This project was the result of months of research into how policy has affected the relationship between the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The laws in place (hegemonic in nature) have become a hindrance to the local economy resulting in the downfall of the island's infrastructure, services, and over all well being of it's inhabitants. Colonia depicts a visionary proposal on one of the ways the Island nation could start rebuilding their economy through a system architecture for the production of Puerto Rican rum in international waters. The proposal is intentionally absurd yet realistic to prove the extent to which these laws are constraining the local economy.
